Capsule endoscopy

It consists on filming the small intestine by a micro video that is swallowed as a tablet, called videocapsule. Used to diagnose small bowell diseases. Not used for taking biopsies or for treatments. Images are transmitted wirelessly to an array of receivers connected to a portable recording device carried by the patient.

After the procedure, commonly after more than eight hours, it connects to a workstation that will allow the processing of all data. The capsule is disposable and will be excreted naturally by bowel movements.
