EUS (Endoscopic ultrasound)

Endoscopic ultrasound combines endoscopy and ultrasound techniques: the endoscope is used to bring an ultrasound probe close to the organ to be analyzed. This exam is extremely effective for diagnosing lesions in the digestive tract, as well as stones, cysts and tumors in the biliary tract and pancreas.

During an endoscopic ultrasound, it is also possible to remove tissue fragments by puncture for further study under a microscope (interventional endoscopic ultrasound).
